The one hundred twenty voice ensemble presents four major
programs per season - A Fall Pops Concert, The Christmas Concert, The Musical
Masterworks Concert and a pair of Memorial Day Concerts celebrating
the art of American choral singing and a patriotic tribute. The 2007-2008
Season includes matinee concerts of our Christmas and Masterworks
Concerts. A representative group of the Society performed concerts in
Munich, Prague, Vienna, Salzberg and Lucerne in the summer of 2002,and
in Northern Italy the summer of 2004, and participates in local community
events.
The 2007-2008 season will be the fifth season for the Hilton Head
Choral Society Chamber Singers. This ensemble of 20 singers, auditioned
from the Choral Society members, performs two concerts featuring 15th-21st
century chamber music. In addition to the new musical repertoire, the
Chamber Singers have the flexibility to perform in new venues such as outreach
programs and regional festivals in the future. Tim Reynolds serves as
artistic director for the Chamber Singers.
The HHCS Presents program of hosting premier choral groups, will
continue with 2 world class choral groups performing on Hilton Head Island. The
American Boychoir performs on October 15 and the King's Singers on February 7.
The Hilton Head Choral Society Youth Choir is in its 3rd season of developing
youth vocalists in the vocal classics. The young singers perform 2 concerts on
their own and join the Full Chorus, orchestra and soloists in this year's
special commissioned work, Iluminaciones, at the Christmas concert.
Local schools provide the talent for this exciting group.
Choral Society Rehearsals are held on Sunday evenings from 7:00 -
9:00 PM beginning early July through Memorial Day. Rehearsal site is
All Saints Episcopal Church, 3001 Meeting Street. Choral Society
Concerts are held at the First Presbyterian Church on Highway 278, and Chamber
Singers Concerts are held at St. Andrew By-The-Sea United Methodist Church, on
Hilton Head Island.
